Extension on top of an exisitng extension

Project Information:  We removed the flat roof on top of a first floor rear extension, built up another storey and added a hipped, tiled roof.

When we entered this house in Rainham we were greeted by three lively little boys - two of whom were sharing a bedroom. Their parents were - understandably - keen to extend the top floor of their house so each child could have his own room.

The property had a single storey extension to the rear, so to undertake a first floor house extension we stripped the existing flat roof, installed new floor timbers and built an additional single storey extension on top. This gave the family an extra king size bedroom, and an extra bathroom. We also extended one of the boys' existing bedrooms, so that his previously tiny box room became a spacious bedroom with plenty of space for him to grow. This project was completed in just eight weeks.
